The Shocking Power of Borrowed Identity in Negotiation and Life
Ever wondered what could happen if you approached every negotiation, every challenge, as if you were someone who feared nothing?
Have you seen kids who wear a Superman costume and suddenly feel invincible?
Has that feeling of invincibility come from changing identity or thinking?
What if you took on the identity of a psychologist or a lawyer in every sales meeting? How would you behave? How would you communicate?
In my latest video, I dive deep into what happens when you take on the identity of someone who never lets fear get in the way of business, relationships, and life.
But here’s the twist: why would you choose to adopt someone else’s identity instead of developing your own?
Is the real transformation about becoming someone else, or is it about thinking differently?
The truth is, mindset change isn’t about pretending to be another person.
It’s about shifting the way you think so you can access new levels of confidence, clarity, and results.
When you learn to switch from emotional (Red Hat) to clinical, strategic thinking (Black Hat), you discover how quickly your mindset, and outcomes, can change.
Identity change without a change in thinking is often called “fake it till you make it”.
Rarely does that last.
For a long period of time, the All Blacks had been known for being very “clinical” in the way they won matches in the last 10 minutes of a game. It was as if they had a belief that, even under extreme pressure, they backed themselves to win.
Now I wonder: what results could you achieve if you were able to “think” that way?
Curious to learn how you can apply these techniques in real-world negotiations and overcome the fear of rejection? Watch the video and let me know your thoughts in the comments, or feel free to reach out if you’d like to explore more!
