Or better yet, how much do you value yourself?
Here’s a hard truth I’ve seen time and again: Salespeople or consultants who constantly bend to a client’s demands often reveal a deeper issue—they’re undervaluing their own worth. And wait for it…
They may be choosing the wrong clients to work with in the first place.
There’s an old saying: If you want something done, give it to a busy person. Busy, successful people value their time because they value themselves.
Now, let me ask you this:
- Does your client show up on time for meetings?
- Do they respect your focus, or are they taking calls mid-meeting?
- Do they treat you like a trusted advisor, or just another vendor?
If the answer to these questions leaves you uneasy, there could be a deeper issue at play.
One common reason I’ve observed among the top-performing salespeople and consultants I’ve trained is an identity rooted in neediness.
When you don’t hold yourself to the same level of respect and authority you expect from your clients, you unconsciously send a message that you’re not on equal footing.
And guess what? Clients pick up on that immediately.
If this resonates, it’s time to rethink how you value yourself—and how you allow others to value you. Because when you shift your mindset, you don’t just reclaim your time—you command the respect and results you deserve.
