Boosting Sales with Mental and Spiritual Work – Here’s Why the Lakers Are Using Meditation to Win

When you think about basketball, a few great teams come immediately to mind.

The great Chicago Bulls side of the 1990s is one of them. Some may also have a fondness for the Harlem Globetrotters and their crazy antics.

But when we’re talking about true sporting dynasties, there’s perhaps no bigger name than the LA Lakers.

While their recent fortunes haven’t been quite as good as their 1980s heyday, the Lakers still have one of the best records in the sport.

I want to focus on something that the Lakers do that all salespeople should emulate.

Boosting Results With Meditation

While most sports teams focus solely on the physical, the LA Lakers have long understood the importance of the mental game.

Without emotional resilience, it’s impossible to overcome the biggest challenges that you’ll face. In the Laker’s case, many of their best players use meditation to overcome the mental barriers.

Kyle Kuzma is a great example. There are plenty of photos on the web that show him meditating while sitting on the bench at a game.

He’s using the process to calm his mind and prepare for the rush of getting called onto the court.

Former Lakers coach Phil Jackson introduced the practice to many of the team’s players back in the early-2000s.

And even their superstar player, LeBron James, uses it:

“…I got more and more comfortable with my inner self, inner spirits, and inner energy and things of that nature, I guess. So it works for me.”

You Can Use Meditation Too

Stress has many masks that people struggle to fully understand.

But what we do know is that it can affect every aspect of your life. You struggle personally and your sales performance dips.
