3 Sales Success Lessons Courtesy of Stephen Curry

As the most well-known Golden State Warrior in the team’s current string of successes, Stephen Curry has accomplished more than most basketball players.

And yet, he continues to works as hard as he did when he first started.

His philosophy of success is applicable to so much more than just basketball. Salespeople can learn a lot from him, as you shall see below.

1.‘Play like you’re in first. Train like you’re in second.’

This might be the most valuable advice for all salespeople.

Your job is to go into a pitch with 100% confidence. You need to act as if the deal is already closed, and you’re only there to chat with the prospect.

But what happens behind the curtain is another story. It’s full of blood, sweat, and tears.

You need to do everything in your power to perfect your technique before you start pitching. While it’s not important to strive for perfection, you’ll want to improve on a regular basis, which is the heart and soul of success.

2.‘Make sure you live in the moment and work your butt off every single day.’

It can be hard to pick yourself up after a dry spell. But remember that it’s all in the past.

Instead of obsessing over what happened yesterday, focus on what you can do today for a better outcome tomorrow.

With this mindset, you’ll have no trouble getting unstuck and replenishing your motivation when you need it the most.

3.‘Success is not an accident, success is actually a choice.’

Everything you do has a consequence. By mindfully selecting the right actions, you’re indirectly choosing success.

Closing a deal is the result of a series of successful actions. There’s nothing lucky about it. Hold yourself accountable for making the right decisions and you’ll see that success is at hand.
